Located just 30 km outside of Griekwastad, Kukama Wildlife College is nestled in a region rich in history. Griekwastad, a charming small town founded in 1802, offers a glimpse into the past. At Kukama Wildlife College, we are a completely off-the-grid facility, where you'll experience vibrant camp life on our 1,400-hectare property, where we transformed a former cattle farm into a wildlife haven. With new animals being introduced, you’ll witness and be part of this incredible conservation journey!

ABOUT OUR FOUNDERS

A man and a woman are sitting on a tree branch in a field.
Once upon a time in the wilds of Zululand...

Two friends huddled over books, swapping jokes and dreams about owning their very own farm and lodge. Fast forward eleven years, and while life took us on different adventures, our bond remained strong—because friends made in the bush are family for life!

A year ago, destiny nudged us back together during a magical visit to a National Park. As we soaked in the sights and sounds of nature, we reignited those long-lost dreams. Then we stumbled upon Olienhout Game Reserve—a hidden gem just waiting for transformation from a cattle farm into a vibrant wildlife haven!

In the past year, we’ve been on thrilling game drives, soaking up hospitality, and figuring out exactly what we want to create (and what we definitely want to avoid!). One thing is crystal clear: we’re all in on making a positive impact by educating the youth and reintroducing the original species that once roamed this land.

Christiaan is steering the ship on the farm side, while both of us are diving headfirst into the exciting launch of Kukama Wildlife College. Together, we’re crafting a space where future generations can learn, grow, and become passionate stewards of wildlife.

Fuelled by our shared vision, we rolled up our sleeves, made lists, consulted industry leaders, and embarked on this adventure. Now, we’re just months away from opening our doors! It hasn’t always been a walk in the park, but every challenge has only added to the thrill of this journey. Our values align like the stars in the Karoo sky, guiding us toward a brighter future.

Join us at Kukama Wildlife College, where dreams take flight, lifelong friendships are forged, and together we can make a difference in wildlife conservation!
