Kukama Wildlife College March 2026 Newsletter Highlights

by Nikki Meiring | 25 Mar 2026

Things have been busy at Kukama Wildlife College — in the best possible way.

In this March 2026 newsletter from Kukama Wildlife College, we’re sharing a quick update from life on the ground at Olienhout Game Reserve. From welcoming new students to ongoing conservation work and the everyday magic of the bush, it’s been a season full of growth, energy, and purpose.

Welcoming New Wildlife Students to Kukama Wildlife College

We’re proud to welcome our third student group of the year — the March 2026 intake, known as the “Lekotoko’s” (meerkats in Tswana).

True to their name, this group has already shown curiosity, alertness, and a fearless spirit. They are exploring their environment, asking questions, and fully embracing the Kukama experience from day one.

At the same time, we’ve recently said goodbye to our January intake — the “Dungbeetles.”

Their journey through Kukama Wildlife College has been remarkable. From their first introduction to the bush to completing their assessments, each student has grown in confidence, knowledge, and practical field experience.

Life on the Edge of the Kalahari

Living and learning on the edge of the Kalahari is something truly special.

At Kukama Wildlife College, no two days are the same. One moment you’re tracking wildlife, the next you’re watching a full 360° sunset that stops you in your tracks — no matter how many times you’ve seen it before.

This is more than just a place to study. It’s an immersive environment where students connect with nature in a real and meaningful way.

More Than a Wildlife Course — A Conservation Journey

Kukama Wildlife College offers more than traditional wildlife training.

Through our partnership with Olienhout Game Reserve, students become part of an active rewilding and conservation project. This includes:

  • Supporting land restoration initiatives
  • Assisting with fence maintenance
  • Contributing to the reintroduction of wildlife species
  • Gaining hands-on conservation experience

Every student plays a role in something bigger — helping to restore and protect natural ecosystems in South Africa.

A Message to Our Kukama Students

To our Dungbeetles — thank you for your hard work, dedication, and the energy you brought to Kukama Wildlife College.

And to our Lekotoko’s — welcome to the journey. Stay curious, stay engaged, and embrace every moment. Your adventure has only just begun.
