“Roots in the Ground, Eyes on the Horizon.”

A Quiet Season, But Never Still…

We know it’s been a little quiet from our side — but rest assured, we’ve been anything but idle. Over the past few months, Kukama Wildlife College has continued to grow, build, and prepare for a future that’s not just about conservation education — it’s about transformation.

A Warm Welcome from Christiaan and Nikki

“Hi Everyone,

We can hardly believe it’s been 9 months since Kukama Wildlife College opened its gates. From open veld to a fully operational conservation college — it’s been an incredible journey filled with lessons, challenges, and real milestones.

We’re so proud of the work done by our small but passionate team, and we’re even more excited about what’s to come. Whether you’re a parent, student, partner, or supporter, thank you for walking this journey with us.”

— Christiaan & Nikki

9 Months In – Fully Operational and Thriving

Since launch, we’ve worked tirelessly to build not just infrastructure, but a home for passionate conservation learners. Every path, fence post, and classroom has been shaped by intention and love — and it’s all finally come together.

Kukama Wildlife College is now fully operational, ready to deliver life-changing, accredited training in one of South Africa’s most ecologically rich regions.

Wildlife Reintroduction – Impala and Gemsbok Return

In a major ecological milestone, we’ve reintroduced impala and gemsbok to Olienhout Game Reserve. These animals now roam freely, contributing to the restoration of balance and biodiversity.

This is just the beginning of our long-term wildlife reintroduction vision, and our students will have the unique opportunity to witness conservation in action.

Landscaping with Purpose – Gardens, Paths, and Growth

We’ve been hard at work developing the landscaping and gardens around the college. These aren’t just about looking pretty — they’re an important part of our sustainability and wellness efforts.

From shaded paths to indigenous gardens, everything has a purpose: nurturing both nature and the people learning within it.

First Students Arrive – FGASA Flagship Course Begins in October

We’re thrilled to welcome our first group of FGASA NQF2 Nature Site Guide students in October – just in time for our 1-year anniversary.

This flagship course is our pride and joy — an immersive, accredited program designed to prepare ethical, knowledgeable, and passionate guides to thrive in the field.

Upcoming: Field Research and Monitoring Course Launches 1 August

Before our flagship FGASA intake begins, we’re excited to host our first ever Field Research and Monitoring Course, launching 1 August.

This short, focused program is ideal for those wanting a deeper understanding of biodiversity monitoring, fieldwork techniques, and real-world conservation.

Weather Update – Cold Mornings, Hopeful Horizons

Yes, it’s been freezing! The mornings have kept us bundled up, but we’re starting to feel the shift — spring is just around the corner.

Our wildlife doesn’t mind though — and neither do we. Every sunrise brings us one step closer to the green season.
